Deccan Gobindobhog Raw Rice
Gobindobhog rice, a specialty from the Burdwan district of West Bengal, has the rank of a geographical indication (GI). The soft and buttery taste of this rice is really well for the Bengali Payesh, which is close to the North Indian Kheer. The delicate scent brings its own beauty to the stew, and the stickiness gives Payesh a dense feel. It is also used in the preparation of Mishti Pulao, another common sweet Bengali delicacy.
